dmtx-utils software package provides Utilities for reading and writing Data Matrix 2D barcodes, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dmtx-utils
dmtx-utils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dmtx-utils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dmtx-utils *
You will get with dmtx-utils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
